What brakes are these??? Rodriguez Elephants? I can't find anything about them...

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

(This photo was taken when the bike was just built and the brakes were not adjusted yet.)

They're actually called "Trillium Big Squeeze" brakes made by R&E Cycles in Seattle. Here's the direct link for the brakes: https://www.rodcycle.com/articles/bigsqueeze.html

Google 'OnZa HO' brakes. These aren't that different from them.

I should know, I have a few pairs of HOs in the garage!

The R&E brakes seem to have a unique feature - the saddle cable passes over the top of the arm and is anchored at the pivot. Normal behavior of narrow angle cantis is to loose mechanical advantage as the brakes are pulled. THe cable attachment of the R&E is supposed to help maintain the mechanical advantage by using the saddle cable to pinch the arms together rather than just pulling them upward. No idea how effective this is...
