I have this problem all year round, but now that the weather is cooling, I am choking on snot. I have to carry paper towels to blow my nose while riding, but it's still pouring down my throat and dripped out my nose. So gross. Anybody else dealing with this issue?

Pin a handkerchief to the arm of your jacket. Wipe during the ride. Toss in the wash when you get home.

In addition to snot rockets, I prefer my gloves to have a wool outer layer instead of nylon so I have something soft to wipe residual ickiness away. Unfortunately beyond a certain temperature or wind chill I have to switch to my nylon mitts as an outerlayer. I should construct a snot gauntlet using some soft material and elastic fabric.

When its warmer and I can get away with just my long sleeve poly baselayer, I just wipe my nose on the sleeve. I'll also do it when I'm wearing my army surplus sweater. I can't bring myself to do it if I'm wearing merino, or a jacket I walk around campus in as an outer layer.

I have a collection of hankies/bandanas. I always have one with me to use for the day, especially on bike rides and running. Goes in the laundry at the end of the day. They are cheap and reusable.

I fill my pockets with napkins from fast food restaurants then use them on the ride.

I have a washrag I carry in my crate on the rear rack. I'll just reach behind me to grab it, fumble with it for a second to get it positioned so I can blow into it without messing my gloves, then put it back. My nose annoys me to no end because it's not really anything but water coming out mostly, but it makes it hard to breathe and I hate a runny nose. I don't like the idea of trying to blow into the air, I'd get it everywhere and still have to wipe off my fingers.. ick.

Properly done, it's very quick and efficient.... as long as you don't go against the wind. Also watch out for peds.

Yeah, I don't know either. Anyway, it's quick and not too messy, although a pair of ski or snowboard gloves are nice to have for when you don't get a totally clean discharge (said gloves usually come with a swatch of soft, brushed fabric on the thumb for the purpose of wiping your nose; just don't mix up thumbs if they also have a goggle scraper on the other thumb).

Rockets are handy, but I usually just swallow snot until it reaches critical mass in the throat, then loogie. Almost zero chance of self-contamination (as long as you don't loog into the wind), plus it doubles as an especially nasty "**** you" to cars that aren't respecting my personal space or right of way.
