Well Thor delivered in getting me the tern bike I wanted. It arrived the other day and it's fantastic. It's my first folding bike but it is so much nicer than the random ones I tried locally. It looks awesome and is really sturdy (I'm 6'1" and 220lbs). It rides really smooth and is going to be a great commuter bike I can take in the train. I now want to upgrade the pedals and seat eventually. Everything else is perfect for my needs.

As a bonus Thor mentioned this was the first tern bike in the country! I feel like a need a certificate or something

I see a rubber thingy under the main tube - looks like it's for holding the handlebars when folded, right?

Yes there is a little nub on the stem that the strap connects to and keeps it nice and folded.

Yeah same bike basically. Frame is a little more beefy for my size. Also the tires are schwable citizen which are only on EU version. Idk all the differences but mostly the frame from what I can tell. Might be different metal too.

Now my GF wants one so now I have to buy another! But I'm sure she wants a white/pink or white/purple one.

those only come in black as you have it ....
the Link D8 comes in white pink, grey with orange, and black with blue ...649 nish also come with fenders and carrier just like yours ...

Are the seatposts interchangeable with those for Dahons? e.g. those Biologic pump seatposts or Thudbusters.

I just noticed, they put the front brake arms BEHIND the fork. That's different!

I also like that the handlebar riser/stem folds to the opposite side, so when the bike is folded the bars aren't between the two folded sections. When I have problems getting my Dahon Vitesse D7HG to fold up tightly, it's usually due to the positioning of the folded bars. It folds fine if you get them positioned right, but it can be finicky to do so, what with the cables and the kickstand in the vicinity.

The seatpost according to the specs is 34mm. Same as the Dahon.

Seatposts are interchangeable ......There will be new and improved pump seatpost available shortly... or so Iam told, Thudbusters of course will woek as well ... the Tern Seatposts are regular no frills but well done posts....
Yes the front brake is behind the fork .... different reasons... 1.cable routing is much cleaner. 2. the location makes the brake stronger and less mushy..... ( just believe me: check my name around here ! ) 3. Terns are folded with the front wheel turned around ... the brake is out of the way this way ...
Handlebar to the outside .... has the advantage that you can switch handlebars with a slightly bigger fold ( but no problems versus inside fold ) its usually faster and less complicated, one doesnt have to be 100 % "on the mark" .... I like it better than inside fold.
Sure somebody will say that one could achieve a smaller package ... not necesasary the truth ... but who cares... Terns are not about the smallest fold, the lightest vapourware, the ? or the ? ... Its about the ride ( today and in 5 years )

Yeah I just meant another tern. I will prob get a D8 or maybe a C7 as she might not use it often. I really love this bike.

Yeah it has multiple front/back plus the muni has 2 red flashers built in. That plus my Superflash Turbo on the back and in dark areas I look like a cop car. It's crazy how much bright red flashing there is.

What can you tell me about that chain cover - looks pretty simple and a clever idea. Is it noisy? I guess you just pull it like a rubber band to take it off right?

That looks well built. I noticed the extra mounts below the water bottle cage mounts....perhaps for a pump. Seems well thought out overall. Congrats!

Those are for a contraption to hold the seatpost .... what the heck .. seatpost ? Yeah ... in conjuction with the to be shortly to be released carrier .........you than snap the seapost into the holder ( which bolts on to the frame ) and have a nifty carry handle for a super stable non tipsy, large wheeled pull behind bike .... I tried it out.. works well ...

From what I read Josh was the designer behing the jetstream which makes sense why the tern bikes are like that too.
