another super rare valuable bike on craigslist!

https://springfield.craigslist.org/bik/2758148757.html
I always check craigslist before making a trip to another town, and there is always something like this. Am I wrong, is it worth it? Can I pay off my student loans with all the womans three speeds in my barn?

You guys won't be laughing so hard after the bombs drop and
Raleigh 3 speeds and Schwinn Varsities are the only remaining
means for transportation.

Yes I will. I have lots of raleigh three speeds and electroforged schwinns. The only way I will cry is if I sell them all for thousands and thousands of dollars each and the bombs drop the very next day!

I sometimes wonder if what other people are smoking. None the less, I just sent the Rare-Cinelli guy/gal an email about the frame set. I am looking forward to the answer I get, if any.

Valued at over $1,200...by a sadist with a sense of humor.

If varsitys and 3 spds are all that's left, please let me be among the first to go.

Do "Rare, Vintage like new, still with original bar tape Montgomery Wards 10-Speed CLASSICS" fall into this category? A local lister was asking $400 smackers for one a while back! :-O

Ummmm...this is sort of embarrassing. Poor guy. Maybe his dad said "I got if from Lenny" and they had a bad cell phone connection.

Here we go again... I think you're enough of a bike guy that if that's all that's left, you'd still be riding.

Yesterday involved a similar idiot over this Benotto, arranged through a LBS:

I was willing to give the seller $100 - sight unseen - mainly for the Campag bits. The seller wouldn't discuss price until he brought said Benotto and a Grand Prix to the shop, so a meet was arranged. The seller came earlier than expected, left before I arrived, and requested $500/ea.

I took one look at the thing up close, and said that I would have personally thanked the seller for being such an ass, had he been there. The chainstay chrome is almost entirely rust, the fork is no better, the seatpost has enough oxidization that it probably won't come out, and the front Super Record caliper has a whole bunch of random nuts and washers holding it together up front.

Oh, the quick releases are Campy - and the front ones looked as if it had been lost in a river for a few years.

I wonder if he even "considered" wiping off the dirt before he brushed on the "royal blue" paint?

But until the demand is there, there is no justification for this price.

Hey, I like Royal Blue. One of Rustoleum's best, I think. I've been planning on doing up one of my klunkers in that kolor.

This bike is super special because:

1. It is made from liquid metal...just like the T-1000 from Terminator 2. Unfortunately I spilled coffee on it, so it won't shape change anymore...but it's made from the same material as the T-1000!
2. The tape wrap was done by Andy Warhol AFTER DEATH AT THE DIRECTION OF A OUIJA BOARD! And it was taped up by none other than Lou Reed! You can be the ONLY person to own a bike designed by Andy Warhol AFTER his death! Doubly special because it's the first artistic contribution Lou Reed has made since 1983!
3. Lance Armstrong used this bike while trying out as an extra for Quick Silver! That's right!!! This was ridden by Lance Armstrong and he was faster than Kevin Bacon in the parking lot!
4. It was originally shipped from Columbia and is rumored to have each tube packed with bags of Columbian Coffee!

This bike was valued by my aunt with Alzheimer's at $4,000,000!!! I'll pass on the savings of $3,985,000! That's right...you save $3,985,000!!!

BBM and his posse will roam the streets at night like the Road Warriors on Raleigh Sports, stealing Twinkies and Mountain Dew.
