Campy logo repair on cranks
I have a mid nineties Chorus crankset with a badly scuffed laser etched campy logo.
Greg Softly says he doesn't have anything that will work to replace it. I'm wondering if some sort of transfer paper would work if I put a protective clear over it. The metal looks OK.
Any experience with transfer paper or other methods?

I'd tend towards buffing the whole thing off, then sending it to a laser etcher and re-etching a new logo.

I suppose they would need the artwork as a vector file. Good idea.

Or you could send it to a gun engraver and get it actually graved into the metal.

I was thinking the same thing about engraving, recent purchase of a Fuji with Sprint Grouppo, but scratched up. If I polish them up, the logos go away. I was this etching system and it has me scratching my head, it might work, it might be a little "Cottage Industry" of reworking Bike Components!

I'd just polish it and forget the logo. Anyone who cares would know what it is.

You could just take it off and do a xylol transfer for less than the cost of having it re-etched. It won't be right, and might not look as good, but if you feel the need to do something, it could be your ticket.
I posted a bit about it in another thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-logo-printing
I agree with the Colonel though. Just polish it and ride.

Anybody who does laser cutting for, say, architectural models, can also do laser etching from a vector file. if you know anyone in architecture in your area they might know a model maker or laser cutting shop who could do it.
