Help with 105 5700 upgrade on CAAD9

Hey guys I recently decided I wanted to upgrade my 2009 CAAD9-7 (sora/tiagra) to a 105 5700 gruppo. I thought I found a complete set on Ebay but it's missing a couple parts. It seemed like a good deal at the time so I quickly purchased it without doing all of my research. My question is, what else do I need to purchase so that I have everything I need to complete the swap? The only thing I can think of is I am missing the cassette, chain, and cable. My bike is also a 9 speed and I am concerned as to whether or not the stock CXP22 wheels will be able to fit a 10 speed cassette without any problems. I should have done my due diligence and I hope you guys can offer some advice. Thanks

Yes, any Shimano compatible 8/9-speed freehub will also take a Shimano 10-speed cassette so you need the appropriate 10-speed cassette, a 10-speed width chain and whatever cables and housing that are missing.

Ain't E-bay wonderful?

Thank you for the information And if the sad face is in regards to me buying online vs supporting the LBS I understand. I have bought everything at the LBS so far including the two bikes my gf and I own. I feel bad for buying online but it is the only way I can afford it at this time I hope my LBS is okay with it if I ask them to help install..

Naah, the sad face wasn't to defend your LBS as I do a lot of my parts buying on line too. My comment was specifically about e-bay and the number of misleading items posted there and the number of buyers not really knowing what they need or what they are getting. It's amazing how many threads here start with "I just bought a (fill in the item) on e-bay and it wasn't.....". I think of e-bay as the mart for experts, not novices. And even they get taken on occasion.

I'm only a 9 speed guy, but doesn't the 10 speed cassette need a 1MM spacer?

Okay noob question. I notice there are different cassette sizes (ratios?). I live in Florida and it's relatively flat with some occasional hills. What size would work best with this type of terrain? Does anyone know the cost of cable and housing? I am assuming it can be found for relatively cheap? Thanks and sorry for all these questions I should have looked into before trying to upgrade.

I buy cables at about $4-5.00 apiece. I think my LBS sells housing for maybe $0.50 a foot. It appears you have a 53/39 crank. Not knowing anything about your riding style, strength, etc., I can only guess, but I'd have you consider a CS-6600 13-25. This should give a pretty wide range for relatively flat with a few hills. That's my preferred cassette for use in flat Illinois (I use 42/53 chainrings). This cassette is only available in the Ultegra series. Amazon has them right now for about $80. If you use this cassette you don't need a spacer, most Shimano 10 speed cassettes need one (it comes with the cassette). The CS-6600 cassettes don't fit on Dura-Ace 10 speed hubs though.

Yes, any Shimano 10-speed cassette does and they come with the cassette.

Thanks for pointing that out. I went ahead and ordered a shimano braze on adapter along with a 105 5700 chain last night. Last thing I need is the cassette so once I decide which gear ratios I need I'll place the order today.
