Mongoose.......?

I purchased this bike for my father, an avid cyclist for over 30 years. I thought It was time he deserved a bicycle with these newfangled shocks haha.

The previous owner removed all stickers, and even with my proficient internet searching ability, I still do not know the exact model. I would appreciate the help.

Those newfangled shocks aren't going to be very good. Looks like a your standard fare department store mountain bike. All of its components are going to be pretty awful, including suspension.

Appears to be a Mongoose MGX D50i or similar, which was a Mongoose-in-name-only box-store bike from the ear when Brunswick Sports (yeah, the bowling ball people) owned the brand. Interesting to note that a Rock Shox Jett fork was swapped on. Still crappy but not as crappy as the stocker. Rear shock is a joke (spring only/no damping) and the rear suspension design is substandard at best. It will be OK for your dad as long as he doesn't tax it too much in true off-road use.

Definitely a junk model. Tough to identify since bikepedia.com doesn't cover that line.

If your father really is an avid cyclist, he's going to laugh at that gift.

It's probably better than what I ride. I never claimed to be an avid cyclist.
