It has happened more than I can count in match sprints, but he has not done that very many times in a points race. I am pretty sure he has never beat me on the final sprint of a points race from behind, that just hurts, although the fact that I have to classify it that tightly shows how many times we have raced over the last 20 years. But if I can make up for it with a match sprint victory later in the year, it will more than make up for it. Plus just the fact that he knows I owe him one will be enough to keep him on his toes and make for a fun season.

As I remember, it was about 100 degrees when I shot those pics and I was very happy to get out of the sun when I was finished.

Trexlertown gets from 2000 to 4000 PAID spectators in the evening watching Friday night racing and they have TV coverage.

Here is a shot from the 2011 Masters Track Nationals at T-Town. This event was in the evening which was a Pro Madison and they got a good crowd and charged $8 per person for admission. The pros warmed up the crowd for the Masters Madison that followed. The pros managed to crash 4 times in the first few minutes and then got their act together. That was some very fast racing.

The racer in green has the same wheel / handlebar setup I use and is looking for his partner who is setting up to get thrown in.



I like the 3T bars that feature the "hoods" riding position but I must admit, they are not stiff at all for you "big" sprinter types. Although, these guys were amazingly fast and the bars did not seem to hold the racer in green back.

What is the team sprint distance on a 400 meter track? At Hellyer, we ride a kilo for team sprint but the 750 meters on the 250 track seems more sprinty to me and civilized.

Since I'm not racing Master's Nats, I'll give you the home-track knowledge, the home stretch runs due South, and the wind is 95% of the time straight up from the South- the headwind isn't always big, but you can count on it making things slow up coming out of T4.
Given how long that home straight is, .... well, "the more you know".

The collorary of course is, tailwind on the back stretch- and it is similarly looooong. Between that and the shallow bankings, consider your tactics accordingly

Speaking of Master Natz, I plan to drive my RV to them, and I was wondering if anyone knows of good RV parks close to the track?

I think those are the sphinx or "endurance" bars they make, come stock on a few bikes. I borrowed a set and absolutely hated them lol. They are nice for the longer efforts you want to sit up from time to time, but yanking on the drops the flex way to much. For something like a madison or long fast scratch they would be decent, especially if you dont get out of the saddle much.

Pretty sure They are basically illegal without a really short stem that essentially eliminates the intended purpose..

For events that follow UCI mass start rules for equipment, the Sphinx bars extend too far in front of the front wheel axel. The limit that the handlebar may extend in front of the front axel is 5cm. Using a "standard" stem, the Sphinx bars extend about 15 cm forward on my TK2.

My Felt TK2 came with them but I use the 3T Scatto bars for team sprint, and all other track events that I do, I use aerobars.

I just hook the bike up to the generator so we can have lights at night! Seriously, its only a 2 day trip, and rollers at the evening rest stop flushes the freeway out of the legs pretty well.

There is one called "Trailer Inns of Bellevue" that is close, but don't recall ever riding by.
Issaquah Village RV Park is close-ish, that's a 30' drive... quite a bit worse at rush hour. I've been by quite a few times, it looked nice? (never stayed there)
Happily though, Issaquah is a nice little town and you are right by Lake Sammamish/Cougar Mt/Tiger Mt if you are looking for fun stuff to do within 10' of the RV park.

I think the Bellevue one is down on I-90 almost in Issquah on the south side across from 164th or so. That will be 20-30 minutes at rush hour. There used to be one just north in Redmond but it did not show up on a search so it is probably condos. If you don't need power or water it might be possible to work something out with the park.
