how much difference is there between
a frame made with reynolds 531 SL vs 531 tubes?

Sorry I don't have numbers, but it's a noticeable difference in weight. I don't think you want to build a large frame or a frame for a heavy rider out of it though

Its like this, my 531 frame completly stripped is 2010 g

if I find the exact same frame with 531SL what weight should I expect?

same builder, one year later

For the light-gauge reynolds (.8-.5 TT & ST, .9-.6 DT) the weight for a 54-55 cm frame would be around 1900g I think. So that is probably what you have already? The Reynolds denominations (SL, P, C, ST etc.) weren't consistent throughout, or may not even have been labelled...

the frame in mind does have Renyolds super light tubing on the decal, and the frame has in its title SL on the end to announce it has it.

Old thread, but I got my hands on some 531 SL. Seems the TT and ST are 0.7-0.5, DT 0.8-0.5 and stays are 0.6. Pretty thin for 531 alloy. Assuming the HT, steerer and fork blades are the same, once cut a set of 531 SL tubes will be some 180g lighter than a std 531.
