Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

[Vanity] CAAD-10 4 in Raw. What color bottle cages?

So I recently purchased a new [2012] CAAD-10 4 (Rival) in the Raw colorway, and I'm having a hard time deciding on what color bottle cages would look nice, so for all you raw CAAD owners, what cages are you using? I've already dug through the Cult of CAAD thread looking for raw bikes, but they are sadly lacking (the 4 is lacking in general it seems, as I didn't see many of the Gulf colorway either). My bike is 100% as it came from the factory as far as components (I'll "upgrade" when things break, I bought this bike to ride).

I'd probably go with silver Tacx Tao. I have those cages on a couple of my bikes and like them very much. I remember a post from someone about them marring someone's carbon frame, but I've never had any problems with the steel and the titanium bikes I have them on.

I've never bought from this place, but it's the cheapest I've seen them: https://www.bikesweets.com/Tacx_Tao_B...cx-tao-sil.htm

I move for a one week suspension for no pics in original post.

Black is always the correct answer.

Yes, a lot of black already... so I'm uncertain if adding yet more black is going overboard... and even in black there are gloss, satin, and matte finishes to consider. The bike also has subtle hints of grey (frame and fork), white (wheels, saddle, stem, seatpost), and carbon weave (brifters).

To make up for this, you could subtract some black elsewhere. For example, those pedals and valve caps have to go.

The pedals are going to go. I haven't decided on those either, but something with toe-clips (I have super wide feet and haven't been able to find a clipless shoe that fits... including Sidi Megas)... valve caps, I don't really care. I'll lose them when I have to top off the air, and well... lose them.

Arundel Mandible Oil Slick color (glossy unidirectional carbon) or King Cage Titanium. Both are about 29 grams, so pretty light and will probably hold onto your bottles well...

I thought about the oil slick color, but the black and white photos on their website aren't a very good display of the color. I've found a couple other colors and they look pretty good. I'm not too concerned about a couple grams of weight between cages (fatty mcfatpants is needs to lose weight more than his bike), but I'd rather pay a few dollars extra for cages I'll keep than buying multiple cheapo nylon ones that I won't (I already have some aluminum ones which are bent).

I'd have to offset all that black and silver with some color. Probably something with neon green or red in it... and black.

BTW, that is a really sharp looking bike. If I happen to get into racing crits next year, I think that's gonna have to be my frame.

THIS GUY has the right idea (see the pedals, not cages):

I have two Cannondale GT40 bottle cages. They come in black or silver and weigh in at 40 grams each. They are very secure and hold the bottles very tight.

I don't care about the cages, I'm checking out the frame. Sometimes no color is the best color. Great looking bike
