Aerodynamic position with Trekking Bars?

I'm not really sure where to post this, but since the bike im talking about is a hybrid, i figure I'd post it here.
I am new to cycling, and recently purchased a Specialized Sirrus Elite. I absolutely love the bike, and I have been commuting as well as going on progressively longer rides and am planning on completing a couple century rides this year. I want a semi upright position most of the time, because I have a pretty messed up back, but on my last couple rides, as well on my daily commute I have faced some pretty strong headwinds. While I have some bar ends set up so that they help a little, I was wondering if trekking bars would be able offer a more aerodynamic position as well as a semi upright position?
Not too interested in touring right now, just long rides and commuting, i was just wondering if a trekking bar would be able to help in head winds?
thanks guys
