Two years without the "2"
Today marks my official two years straight of being under 200 pounds. I have been under 200 before, but have not been able to stay under without going over in the winter. Most of the time I have been staying around 190 and have been as low as 185. This week I weighed in at 177, which is the lowest since somewhere in 1992. This journey started 2008 at 220 pounds, and has been a seesaw battle. So, 43 pounds off to date. I'm not sure how much more I need to lose, but probably will end up in the low 170's or high 160's. So anyway, just that I would share in hopes to inspire folks not to give up.

Congratulations! I hit a personal low this morning and sub-clyde is looking like a possibility later this year. I've gone below 200 before but usually just briefly. I used to hang out between 203 and 207. Heck my license says I'm 205 and it's almost right again! Woo hoo!
Are you doing anything different now that you're getting close to your goal?

I'm envious - I started out at 320lbs in Feb 2010 and now I'm hovering around 280lbs. I'm not sue I will ever see < 200lbs as Im "big boned"
The BIGGEST thing I have discovered is that it isnt "about the bike". I rode close to 3000 miles last year and lost only 5lbs. This year (since mid-April), Ive focused on diet and lost 15lbs! Im a slow learner
Congrats!

Congrats! I'm looking forward to hitting the "1's". My ideal weight for my body will still mean I'm an Athena, but I'll be a leaner one.

Congratulations on maintaining below 200! It'll still be almost a couple of years before I can celebrate what you're celebrating.
I've been non-clyde for almost 3 months now, and am 171 as of today. For the first time in years, I'm less than 10 lbs overweight according to the BMI charts. I still hope to get to 155 by mid-summer, but the weight loss has slowed down a little. I've spent a lot of my life somewhat overweight, but not too much of it over 200 lbs. The last few years have been tough, though, and I had hit an all-time high of 227.5 lbs by the end of 2012.

Great job!
I am with ya.... biking is not THE ANSWER. I really thing it is 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. I started riding at 360 pounds. I did lose some weight last year but it really should have been more to be frank because I was putting miles and miles on but not paying attention to what I ate. Today I am 288. Goal? Not sure. 210 would be nice.

The only thing that I have really changed was that I added 1 day a week of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in the form of Tabata Protocol. A trainer friend of mine got me started on it. I do six different exercises that have eight sets each. The idea is to go all for 20 seconds with 10 seconds breaks and do the next set. Each exercise set takes four minutes with a two minutes breaks in between them. It' a real butt kicker, but I believe that it is one of the reasons that I have been able to break through my previous barrier. The next step is to get my body fat checked again and see where I am standing there, before settling on a finale goal weight. If I were going by BMI. I would have to get down to 169 to be "normal".

Well, I used to scoff at that BMI thing but I finally realized that it's not BMI, it's me. I fail to see how a 6'2" man can weigh 140 and be "normal" though, so maybe it's not all that. I do want to get into the high end of the normal range quite badly though.
