First day back

Well, this was my first day back since a car knocked me over 3 1/2 weeks ago. Felt great. I was a little worried I would be timid (the hit from the car wasn't too bad, I went down on my side, and got a nice bruised rib, but that was it). Luckily the driver didn't hit and run, I got the insurance info, and they are treating me like the victim I was (she had a stop sign, I did not, she hit me). But to the point of the post, I felt just as confident and good on the pedals today as I did right before I got smacked, so my main worry, that I would be fearful on the road, is gone. Wooo hoooo! I went 21,000 miles on the bike before I got hit, here is to 21,000 more at least without incident.

Good to have you back.

I've only cycle-commuted 4 times since my car vs. bike collision back in September, but getting over that psychological hump wasn't too bad for me either. (I've had a plethora of other excuses for why I haven't been riding, but they're mostly gone now, and I expect to be commuting regularly now.) But every time I ride past the scene of the collision, the incident gets replayed in my mind. Maybe it'll go away eventually, but that kind of trauma won't easily be forgotten.

Since mine was a car pulling out from a stop, suddenly I'm way more "twitchy" when there is a car at a stop now. I'm trying to not let it effect me too much, since I don't want to become paranoid every time about it either.
