Any good advice for a rookie FG rider going out in the rain?
I know from riding SS that painted roads (crosswalks, etc) are slick when wet. Same with metal bridges, manhole covers, etc.
But what other stuff will come up while riding in the rain in the city that I should be aware... talking mostly about things that make FG riding different or difficult. Skids will probably occur more often when trying to "backpedal" stop, right?
I don't think it should cause me to spinout while starting from a stop, right?

It just stormed pretty bad here, I get out of work in about 2 hrs so I imagine it will be wet and maybe still storming. It'll be my first FG experience on wet roads. Kinda worried about being strapped in. Thanks.

I dont know anything at all about fg since I barely want to buy one. But i highly suggest getting ready to stick your foot out incase you loose your balance. Careful with the turns!

i got caught in a pretty serious downpour a couple weeks ago about 20 miles from home, youll be more in control with a fg

to be honest once youre soaked its all the same, be more concerned about the fact that people become lobotomized behind the wheel of a car once it starts precipitating

dont stop or start on painted lines, and what could be a little puddle could turn out to be a gigantic crater filled with water
and remember that actual brakes suck in the rain, so dont count on that "oh sh*t" handle you got

If you are riding with a brake it isn't much different. It takes more time to slow down either way. I personally think it is easier to recover from a rear wheel skid-out fixed but that should be balanced out with the fact that you are more likely to fishtail by backpedaling than you would be if you were just using a rear brake. Just go slower and take more time to brake.

These stop insanely well, even in the rain. Dead serious. Supposedly you have to get the ugly salmon colored ones though for the best stopping power. I put these on my bike last season. Stops my bike exponentially better. And in the rain, unbelievable performance. Stops just about the same as it does when it's not raining. No joke.

Nothing that different. You'll notice sooner if you lose traction in the rear. Don't try to skid on those metal plates that cover construction holes.
