So, I Think I want to Race Masters Worlds

I'd like to go to Louisville to watch the UCI World Championships.
If I'm gonna spend the money to fly out there, might as well spend a couple of extra days and race, eh?

Who went last year and got any info, tips, experiences to share?

Coming from SoCal, it'll probably end up being some pretty cold racing for me.

Looking at last year's results, only 61 people competed in my 45-49 catergory - and only 3 from outside the US. Looking at the heat vs finals times - the heat lap times were about twice as long. Was there a course change or did the conditions change that much day to day?
I'd imagine with the Elites being just after at the same venue, a few more Euros might show up, but I'm not sure.

I wouldn't at all be competitive with the leaders, my goal would to not be last. Would be kinda cool to actually compete in a World Championship, I skipped a couple opportunites in Masters Swimming.

It sounds cool, but it would be _tough_ racing. Can you hang in the local A races? (Not win, but run, say, mid-pack?)

Nah, I'm back of the B races.
I'd probably get pulled after only two laps; looking at last year's results.

I'm interested in hearing stories of how last year was as well.
