Nashbar Panniers
Nashbar is having a decent clearance sal and I am thinking of picking up a set of these:

Anyone have any experience? I am riding a single speed converted Peugot steel mountain bike with slicks, fenders, and a rack. The rack has the little hooks at the bottom, so I assume this would work. Any thoughts.
BTW--Huge wind today, wasn't sure if I was going forward or backward!

I purchased and returned a set. They're much smaller than I expected, and because of their over-the-rack design, they make it very difficult to carry anything else on your rack while they're attached... If I were you, I'd probably spend a couple bucks more and get some proper panniers that separate, so you have additional cargo flexibility. I'm fairly happy with the Nashbar waterproof set, which are also cheap...

We have 3 sets of these and are happy with them. They are large enough for a daily commute and are holding up ok. I had a seam come apart on mine when I really overstuffed it, but a quick repair with a sewing mackine and they are as good as new.

I run the same ones as maptester. Love'em. even purchased a set for my wife's commuter. Very happy with the. Plus they do wear well in all weather conditions.

In case it helps you decide, the Daytrekker panniers measure 11"x11"4"; the waterproof panniers are 12"x12"x5". (The website doesn't list dimensions, so I emailed them to ask.)

A guy on another forum told me his Nashabar panniers (those pictured) ripped on the first day. He said there is a velcro strap at the top that keeps the hooks on and it ripped off and he drug the pack down the road. Any problems like that for you?
