Farrar for Lantern Rouge
Tyler Farrar is now only 1 minute out. He's been chasing down Feillu's apparent stranglehold the last couple of days. Can he achieve the LR before crashing out?

Not sure if your joking or not here.
It takes guts to finish a tour, especially after having such a rough time. I'm sure he's fighting off alot of pain to keep going and not just physical pain, but emotional too. American fans havn't exactly been kind to him. My hope is to see him healed up and competitive in Paris. Whats yours?

LR is pretty prestigious. If he can't win a stage, maybe this would at least give Garmin a little laugh and some good mood.

I don't really know how one gets the Lantern Rouge. Too lazy to search. Does the rider have to meet a certain time limit? How are the time limits determined?

Historically it has tended to be a rider involved in and/or caught behind several crashes. In a way the bad luck tough SOB who refuses to quit.
recently there have been some who sandbagged to get it. Which changes the 'award' considerably.

Knowing Tyler he'll crash on the Champs D'Elysee and DNF, then storm someone's bus looking for revenge.

It is the lowest placed rider by time to finish. TO FINISH is a very important part.

It's a percentage of the winning time that determines what the time riders need to finish by to avoid elimination. The percentage is dependent on the type and length of the stage. UCI has the TDF rules available online if you want to get into the details.

This could get ugly again if someone from Argos starts to drift back

Tyler takes the lead with 5 seconds over Engoulvent. Could he be the first American LR ever? There are lots of mountains left.

I think the riders who got hit by the car last year made the cutoff time, but het general consensus was if they had not they would have been allowed to continue.
