I've never been strangled by the nicotine addiction, but I hear quitting is one of the hardest things ever, for most. I would guess it's probably harder than my 70+ days of chemo, which blows my mind. Again, for those quitting, my hat is off to you. One [strike]day[/strke] minute at a time. Post here if you need support. You'll always have a shoulder to lean on. Heck, even use all cap's and bold if you're feeling like you have to bite someone's head off. We'll understand!

I've been smoking for 11 years, since i was eleven. My first attempt to quit was a 6 months pause when i tried to get into a University basketball team. It worked but once i was in a good shape I started again.
Finally I did quit because I hated the feeling of being a stinky smoker while my girlfriend did not smoke, even though she tolerated it. Now quite a few years passed and we are married . Probably if we were not together I'd still be a smoker, i always feel it after few beers.

Used to smoke a pack of day. Quit when my son was born. Switched to the e-cigs for about 2 weeks, and haven't had a drop of nicotine in my system. Amazing what fatherhood does to yah.

Smokers ?
I quit in June 1997 (15 years ago now). I gained about 50 lbs over the next 2 1/2 years...not fully related to stopping smoking. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid (under active thyroid) in Dec 1997.

Wow, this is a great thread! I quit the first time for 7 years, had several bad days at work coworkers handing me smokes I finally gave in. Well I seen those commericals with the smokers with holes in their throats, Quit June 16! I only smoked half a pack a day and a cigarin the evening. I will admit I miss those damn cigars!
