Aromatic oil used in the TDF.
There was mention of an oil that was used to clear the noses of the TDF riders. Can anyone tell me the name of it and does it really work to clear the nasal passages for bike riding?

I saw a ?trainer? applying something to cotton swabs and handing them to a rider who was shoving them up his nose as he warmed up. I was wondering about that.

Bob Roll answered that question on Ask Bobke- bottom line-" menthol, and it's been proven to have no effect at all."

I don't know about the spelling, but Phil and Paul called it "albus oil" or something like that.
Edit: A quick google search looks like it's "olbas oil."

they said it is a combination of Eucalyptus and Mint oils and that it opened the sinuses to help breathing and that it helped clear stuffy noses.

It's great stuff - been using it for years when needed. My Mum used to put a couple of drops on my pyjama collar if I had a stuffy cold, to help me breath through my nose at night rather than my mouth. Everybody knows how rough it is to wake up with that dry mouth.
