I`m not clear exactly what screw you`re talking about, Commutenow. You mean the quick release lever to remove the stem? If that`s it, there`s no way I`d ride it without being able to clamp it tight. You can probably find one of those at a bike shop (seatpost clamp screw and lever if you can find one the right size). Alternatively, you should be able to replace the QR with a straight bolt. My 2012 Pocket Llama has a built in 8mm nut on one side, so I was able to ditch the lever contraption with no mods or extra parts. If you mean a different screw (headset lockscrew, maybe?) can you post a picture of it?

I think you referring to the 1" long, Hex Screw that takes a 5mm hex key to loosen/tighten - it allows the stem riserheight to be adjusted. Yes, it is a standard item that a good ACE Hardware Store should have in stock.

Why does it need replacing? (The one on my NWT is 5 yrs old, was adjusted twice when the bike was new, and hasn't been touched since.)

The man that sold it to me is sending me the 5mm(diameter) x .8mm (thread pitch) x appr. 9mm (under head lenght) metric socket head cap screw. It is located above the lower part of the headset near the lever used for folding.
