Great vid, thx for posting the link. I enjoyed the enamel dipping segment, and the face on the 'junior' employee whose task it was to move components from a conveyor to the 'skilled' assembly workers.
Here's an interesting video on how a modern frame is made. Sorry it has a commercial up front.

Ha. I think you are confusing him with the guy that treats the frames for rust.... all those preservatives gave him unnaturally long life.

I've been given to understand that working for Raleigh was considered a good job, and that advancement was very much a case of 'dead man's shoes.' I think that's partly my attraction to them. I feel a very real connection to the men who made my bicycles. They worked hard, tried hard, turned out a very decent product, and took pride in their work. The least I can do is make sure their efforts don't just rust into obscurity.

Excellent link.
Even if it was posted before.
Makes us aware of what went into making our Vintage Bikes.
Now I need to go find a Raleigh from 1945-1955!

I'd love to see some chain rings made with the heron for a modern 10 speed setup. Cotterless of course. give me a double with something like 52 / 36 and the heron. I'd find a Raleigh to build if those were available.
