Skewer size for 2005 Trek 520 ?
Dear Cyclists,
I'd like to replace my quick release skewers on my trek 520 with something more secure, now that I am commuting on it.
Please advise: can I use road skewers, or MTB skewers?
Thank you for your help!

If it has the Deore LX hubs you need MTB skewers.

My initial reply was going to be 135mm Now I am thinking 130mm. You really need to measure the skewers you have now. Whats up with your current ones that they don't feel secure to use?

This is just a passing note on this. Halo has some sort of "locking skewers" that are a little hard to find. But, some are available in longer lengths.

An allen wrench skewer 100/135 set works for me..
Adding security thru a little bit of inconvenience.
even if 130 wheel 5mm is insignificant, just a skosh may stick out one side.
saw it shorter, or use the extra length, for the hitch mount, to tow a trailer
