Secondly I have the white frame that you see I do not know anything about this . . . well apart from I like it!!

Well, that depends. You're probably not going to get much help in the "Classic and Vintage" section either. They usually deal with regular bicycles there.

No idea what either bike is, but they were both designed specifically for V-brakes. That puts them somewhere in the 1996 and up range. The aheadset also became popular around that time.
The non-replaceable derailleur hanger was well out of fashion by 2000, so I'm guessing it's somewhere between 1996 and 1999.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here and apologize in advance if I do, but I would suggest going to the British Retrobike forum and asking it there. The people there are much more into older MTBs, so that'll be your best chance to get answers.
