Looking for a floor bike stand
https://www.sportssolutions.net/inc/s...dstand/440/449
I read up on that GrandStand and there seem to be quite a few complaints about spokes being damaged by the stand or paint getting chipped off.
Anyone know of a similar product that doesn't do any of that?
Looking at getting 2, one for front and one for rear

I just picked up one of these for my road bike:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Folding-Bike-Stand/13012494
Not super sturdy but it works, doesn't take much floor space, can't (easily) damage spokes/wheels, and it's pretty cheap.

If you have the wall space I think your better off going vertical. This is freestandand if you have space you can put two back to back.

for 1 bike on the floor look for a rack that has vertical height
extending above the wheel , rather than so low to the ground..
top tube support racks come in many styles freestanding [one kind shown]
and those that extend to the ceiling, , and others that lean against the wall ..
getting a nice one made of furniture grade wood may make the Wife happier,
to have it be there all the time.

Using there plans, my son, his friend, and I built five in about three hours. They work great and cost less than five dollars apiece.
gforeman, thanks for your plans and advice when I contacted you.

How are you able to do it for $5 a piece?

$5 a piece? No way, but less than $20 for sure. I buy the PVC in a 10' length and cut it down. I buy the stuff at lowes, and a lot of the elbows and such, I get in the contractor packs of 10 and they are cheaper than the individual pieces.
You can also use Acetone to remove all the lettering off the PVC and you don't even have to paint it.
