My nephew took me on a cool ride today!
The tomb of William Henry Harrison near North Bend, Ohio
American flag flying over the tomb.
Overlooking the Ohio River near North Bend, Ohio
Another view
A slow moving barge.

Fresh asphalt right in the heart of Silicon Valley. OMG it's so nice.

Took a small single day tour with a couple of friends on the nearby island of Aegina last Sunday, here's a couple of pics:
Taking a small breather after climbing the second largest incline on the island.
Our three bikes outside the monastery of Agios Nektarios.
Breaking some local speed limits while coasting on a downhill.
End of a nice day just before we caught the ferry back to Athens.

Love those roads. That's why I'm getting back in the saddle. You can't take all that beauty in on a motorized vehicle. I used to ride a lot of motorcycles as well. Even then the scenery is usually going by too fast to really just soak it up.

chillin watching the surfers get pounded by the huge swell that hit Socal. Set of 7-8ft and outside breakers about 10ft

One from Today on the W&OD Trail. First ride on the new bike.

I only got 12 miles in today. I planned to ride more, but did this only 6 miles from home:
Along with the bent shifter, I also bent a pedal pretty badly. I was running late to the breakfast ride, took a corner a little too quickly for the slightly wet conditions, the tires hydroplaned and I went down. I apparently hydroplaned too, because I came out relatively unscathed. I limped the 6 miles home, bought some new pedals later that day, and found someone over in C&V who had a shifter lever they could send me to replace the bent one. (I love BF for stuff like that.) At least I got 12 miles in.

Oddly, yes, I did. I performed a perfect belly flop on the blacktop and did a little hydroplaning myself. Barely a scratch. I did sprain my thumb though.

Today's ride was with a buddy, also a Clyde, and his 64cm Calfee Dragonfly Pro. I need to do a lot of work to ever be able to keep up with him.

is that your calfee? if so, tell me about how you like it and the wheels too. I am still wrestling with my next bike and I almost pulled the trigger on a calfee this week, but when i got the total back from them, I stopped. I could have bought a calnago or pinnerrelo for the coin they wanted for a frame ready for DI2. Right this second I am leaning to a ridley noah rs....competitivecyclist is supposed to get a few more instock this year, and keep their current sale price...I suppose we will see.

That is actually my buddies bike. He seems pretty ecstatic with it and the bike is gorgeous. I think he got the frame from Calfee at a pretty great price and had his shop build it up with pretty good discounts so he was less than 10k out the door with SRAM Red.

i tried to make a deal as they were having a "sale" this month...still their base frame out the door, painted, and with DI2 internal wiring was over 3K...and my gut tells me for 3K I can do better with a factory frame.

I did one of my common day-off rides into the city, in this case a 30 miler on my rehabbed Raleigh DL-1. Stopped at the bake shop
for a small snack
A quick stop at the downtown Christmas tree
On the way back, noticed the new food park is open
And by then, it was lunch time.
