Can I install a Shimano 6703 crankset on a Cannondale Multisport 1000?

Hello all,

I am in the process of converting my 2001 Multisport to drop bars, and the same guy that is selling me his bars, Ultegra shifters and brake calipers has a new Ultegra 10 speed triple 6703 set-up he doesn't need. I would love to put the drivetrain into my bike which started life with an Ultegra 6600 double with a BB5500 bottom bracket. Is this possible? The 10 speed components are from a 2010-11 Trek Madone which I think uses a BB90.

Thanks,
David

I think I have found the answer to my own question -- I will need to install a SM-BB6700 or a BB7700 to use the crank. Please correct me if this is wrong.

Thanks,
David

AFAIK, all you will need to use this crank is the appropriate English threaded external bottom bracket cups you listed. Even a BB5700 will work. You will, of course, need a triple compatible front derailleur and shifters.

Ultegra 10 speed triple 6703
- I don't have one but in investigating for my triple 6603 cranks and again for my double 6700 cranks, I found that the BB options are quite flexible.
You should be able to run with a BB-7900, BB-6700, BB-5700, BB-5600, BB-4600, BB-7801, BB-6601. (there may be some different prefices in their naming convention e.g.
they call it SM-FC6601 but I called it BB-6601, but if it's a bottom bracket of these numbered series, it will work).
Your mention of a BB7700 on the other hand should not work - that was the 9-speed DuraAce BB which has a very different form factor than those I mentioned.
