So, it sounds like I need to look into a new stem. If that doesn't work, a new frame. What do you guys think of the Leader 722?

Handless track stands are a useless circus trick.
Do not belittle my profession.

This is the kind of advice I come here for; so simple to an old-timer yet so out of reach to noobs like me. Such a tasty morsel - makes me want more. A pro, my friends. And a class act on top of it.

Nah, just stop buying frames from the internet. Buy one from a shop where you can get properly fitted and go for a test ride before you buy. On that test ride (while out of sight of the shop) try a hands free track stand. Then you'll know. But before you do that, buy a shorter stem. And then buy a set of riser bars to see if it's really just too much weight in front of the headset that's making everything too floppy.

I venture back into the real world and miss all of this? Thanks for the heads-up, guys.
OP, buy whatever new bike optimizes your sqrl suppage and hop on Coach Nagrom's 12 week program.
By week ten, you'll pick up so many chicks at stoplights that you'll be a walking std!
Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Or even just take the bars off the bike completely and try doing a no-handed trackstand. If that makes it way easier, simple proof that it's the weight of the bars / length of the stem causing the issue.

To people thinking I'm going to buy a new frame over just this silly trick-
I didn't mention this frame has intense toe overlap. I've gotten used to it, but it's still there and it does get in my way sometimes.
