Overhauling Lance
Finally caught the Discovery show Overhauling where they did Lance's GTO. I must say it was pretty good. They did a killer job on the car. Lance appeared to be totally suprised as well. I loved the bike rack they put on the rear. A perfect way to haul the bike he rode into Paris!

The only thing that caught my eye was when the fake detective met with Lance in the parking lot to go over the details. It seemed that Lance was a bit miffed with the whole "fan" detective and not happy to sign a few things for him.
I can understand why, but I'd think he'd always have his game face on when in public. You just never know when someone is taking a picture or going to report your actions in print.
Not that Lance isn't a great guy...but you never see that side of Tom Hanks for instance. Obviously he's got to get ticked by the reporters and fans constantly hounding him, but you never see a photo or any dirt on him.

Yeah, but Tom Hanks has chosen to go into a profession where his face is basically his calling card.
Lance is an athlete in a sport that is pretty underwatched in the US. Granted he is HUGE as far as cycling is concerned, but I would bet he can move around pretty much undetected 75% of the time.
I dunno, just a thought. Plus, was the detective guy acting like a tool. If there is one thing I have noticed watching the Lance Chronicles: The man does not suffer fools lightly! He might be our "ambassador", but he's still got a lot of Texas in him.

Regardless of his occasional arrogances, he is still by far a favorite of mine.

i'm not crazy about the overhaul. like the interior, not crazy about the wheels or the pain job. and i agree with the dude at that dippy car site i linked to who says it's a sin to do anything to the GTO logo itself.
under the hood they did a good job though.

I think they were trying to get to him. I mean his best friend and his girlfriend were both in on the gag. They seemed to be enjoying it quite a bit. In the end all was good.

The interesting thing about Tom Hanks, is that he lives in a fairly "normal" house. Most Hollywood stars are behind 10ft fences with all kinds of security. When you do the "tour of the stars" out here it should really be called the "tour of the stars gates and fences". Because that is mostly all you can see. You can drive to Tom Hanks' house, park in his driveway and walk up and knock on his front door. I don't know if he would answer though.

Lance is a great guy. His sports agent, Bill Stapleton works in my building and he too is a great guy. I talked to Lance one time in the bathroom and he talked to for as long as I cared to talk and never rushed through. I have talked to him other times as well, just passing through the garage and he is EXTREMELY nice and very cool. Of course, Austin is his home and not a lot of people chase him around like they do in France.
