So what did Kryptonite Send?

I just got a notification that UPS attempted to delivery my new lock. I was curious as to what people got for their locks in the exchange. I sent them my Evolution 2000 (purchased in 1996-7... somewhere around there). So I was curious as to whether this means I'll get a new Evolution or are they going to go the cheaper route with a KryptoLock instead.

I sent my Trek about two weeks ago and surprised it came today. To be honest I prefer the old lock because the skin of the keyhole part of the shackle is twistable, sealing the keyhole to displace moisture and ice. I also prefer flat than glossy too. But I'm not complaining... another day without a BIC pen in my lock, another relief.

You should get back pretty much the same model(s) of lock(s) you sent them. I did.

Heh... it has a different locking mechanism although the model type is the same.

The one I sent them was a tubular cylinder lock while the new Evolution model has "disc style cyclinder resists picking and drilling". So the name and styles would be similar the actual lock/key cyclinder would be different.

Hey MsMittens,
I'm just wondering how long it took Krypto to send you your lock back. Since you're in TO you must have sent yours in around the same time I did. (the Canadian swap only started at the beginining of January, right?)
I've been waiting 3 weeks now, and no lock.....

I sent them a bunch of locks...the replacements were each the "closest" available match to the old locks. A couple of the locks I sent in were shaped like the lid of a "grand piano"...wide on one side, and narrow on the other. They don't make that model anymore, so I got just regular "large" U-locks for those. A friend of mine sent in a lock she bought in 1979...I thought she ought to keep it...a true "vintage" lock.

I have tried to keep up with the "BIC" story on "Google News", and elsewhere, including this forum. The "BIC" videos and related threads have been downloaded almost half a million times. And, to date, I have yet to see documented evidence that even ONE bike has ever been stolen using a BIC pen. What did Bill say about such things? "Much ado about nothing"?

I actually received the UPS notification near the mid-Jan and they received it on Jan 17th. I had originally sent in my request on the website in Sept/Oct (somewhere in the Fall). Don't know if that helps give you a better timeline.

Welp. I got my lock finally. It is a Kryptonite Evolution (orange handled thingy) and the keys are really neat. Very thin, straight with small notches in them.
