Nice ride, nice weather, rode up on a couple of other riders on the country road who were taking the lane--I always ride on the RH side of the road--said, "Hi" and scurried along since I didn't want any part of pissing off the cagers.

Oh, left in the dark. It'll be that way now until the time changes.

Riding in the dark the last couple of days cause I am leaving an hour earlier so I can hit the gym before work. It's kinda nice riding in the dark. Weather is perfect in the mornings recently.

I screwed up this week. I did ride Tuesday, but I have the fenders off my bike for the summer so didn't want to ride in the rain. I rode my motorcycle (still has it's fenders!) yesterday and it was pretty dry all day, so I could have ridden the bicycle. I knew today would be rainy and had figured on the Beemer, but now it looks like it will even be rainy tomorrow and I had been hoping for a long ride home from Salem.

I'm getting new stainless fenders from Peter White tomorrow, so I don't want to put my old ones on, then swap them out. Next week looks to be dry though, so I'll get in a few days anyway!

Mornings are pretty dark, and at 64F/18C today was the coolest ride in I have felt since Spring. My over sensitive eyes are already watering...drives me crazy.

The temp was a cool 40 f degrees, when I rode through town this morning, clear skies and a beautiful day. A very nice uneventful ride to work. What I do not understand is in any other world 40 degrees would say long pants, coat and gloves, not me, I rode in shorts and a long sleeve shirt, no gloves. What was I thinking? I most obviously had cold hands but can not complain about my own stupidity.

Uneventful.

I got a little bothered (just wee bit) in one spot where a bike lane ends and I have to merge over. A little old lady didn't give me room, so I had to check-up and let her pass before merging over. It was no big deal but the only 'gnat bite' in an otherwise perfectly enjoyable ride.

Perfect commute this morning. Temps in the mid-60s with low humidity, tailwind and caught mostly green lights the whole way. To top it off, schools were closed today, so there was no bus and student traffic near the high school that I pass every day. Started out easy to warm up my legs and ramped up the pace as I got closer to work, finishing with a nice average speed.

Cool 11C (52F) but clear, nice ride in. However, between 7:00 and 7:15, the sun is right in my eyes so I should ride in a bit earlier.

Took the 29er today so I can bring all my clothes for the week home in the panniers. I enjoyed yesterday's ride on the Bianchi so I'll have to keep a watch out for more days when I can ride it in: it has no racks and I don't want to carry a backpack when I ride it so it'll have to be days that everything I need is at work.

Have a great weekend people!!

Safety glasses, $7 at Ace Hardware!

Got a later than usual start today - amazing how the scenery changes just 30 minutes later than my usual start. A lot more young people. I guess just us old farts ride in early. I think I might change my routine

My last friday at work, I'll go back to my 4 days/week schedule next week, WOUHOU!!!

Unfortunately for me I had to take the wife's car to work to get the oïl change (I work in a Ford dealer)
so for the first time since the 22 may I didn't ride the bike. Everybody at work I asking me what's wrong or if I feeling all right, it's kinda funny.

Nice week end everyone.

It's been a really nice week - cool mornings, hot afternoons, light winds, no rain! - and I've really been enjoying my commutes. I mean, I always enjoy my bike commutes, but in the last couple of weeks, I've felt more relaxed overall. Pretty uneventful today. Startled some crows picking at a dead squirrel. Had to negotiate with a bit more traffic than I'm used to in the parks area. Otherwise, a nice, calm ride to work.

Had another nice ride in this morning. Found a nice alternate route for a section of my ride that is mildly annoying. Yesterday going home was pretty exciting. I got hit with a micro burst. I had to get off the bike cause I was afraid the wind was going to knock me over. Thankfully it didn't last long.

Wonderful, though a bit chilly ride this morning. Started with a stop at the LBS/Coffee shop for a meet up with some commuters from the Washington Area Bike Forum. Nice group and I hope to spend more Fridays with them.

When I got to work the rack was absolutely packed. Met some new bike commuters to the building here who had met up at the same time and right across the street from the coffee group.

So all told, I met about seven bike commuters today who I hadn't met before! Nice way to start a Friday!

Yesterday, I pulled into my driveway and checked my odometer. This is what it said.

My bike's mileage has officially reached 4 digits. Not just guessing the mileage from the 13 years I've owned it.

why do car drivers think that getting home is a race? why must they floor their engine to pass you? Do they not understand that you are moving under your own power (legs) and it does not make you any more macho when you floor your minivan past me while I am riding?

why do people have to be so rude and discourteous to a guy on a bike?

just riding along minding his own business. Enjoying the 78 degrees and low humidity for a change.

Sorry for the rant.... sorta

I have to shake my head and laugh at the drivers who have to blast past you just to sit at a red light. I nearly always catch up and pass them. If I'm feeling snarky, I'll say "Nice drivin', Danica."

As for my ride this morning, it was cool and dark. I had a platelet donation appointment at 6:15 so I had to break out the light and blinky for the first time in a while. Very pleasant ride, hardly any traffic. It will be much hotter and busier on the way home this afternoon.

Me 2. Dc was beautiful for the ride home. My usual commuting buddy had to go pick up his triathalon packet in DC, so I was bangin' by myself....great weather today. Loved it. 78 and 31% humidity when I pushed off.

The temp was a cool 39 f degrees when I rode through town this morning(I was dressed appropriately so I was not cold). Dark when I started with clear skies and stars, a very nice uneventful ride to work.

Cool coming in but from the sounds of it we will have another summer come back here in the DC area.

My wife returned to work this morning after recovering from a concussion that occurred on July 10. I drove her to work but then drove home and rode the short (4.5km, 2.8mi) route so she could have the car when she gets home (one of our sons will pick her up). It was a nice sunny morning ride in but cool (10C/50F), especially since the route has a couple of long downhill rides and the damp cool air almost feels cold at 40kmh (25mph).

Longer ride home this afternoon, I have to pick up my cell phone from my in-laws, I left it at the cottage so they brought it to their house, so it will be about 22km ride home with a short 13.3% bump to climb over (why didn't they just blast it).

I think we will have a come back here in NC as well. The humidity was much higher this morning. I was spoiled last week. I took off the arm warmers early and worked up a good sweat riding in. Not too many stupid drivers either. Traffic lights through downtown cooperated as well. Made good time!

I have to drive tomorrow meeting in the morning and I have to get home so the wife can get to meetings in the evening. I can no longer go for 5x a week riding. <- that kind of bums me out but it will be okay.

humid and warm, bit of a headwind - did a shakedown ride of my winter bike, I don't really know why but that's my excuse for a slower than usual ride in
