Well, It's National Bike to Work Day. I had a good ride in this morning, light rain, 58F/15C. The air smelled so fresh and clean. We'll see what the bike ride home brings. We are suppose to have rain for the next five days.

Here's a better photo of Science North from my new route to work. From the side, it looks like a spaceship has landed on a rocky outcrop but from above, it is shaped like a snowflake (actually, 2 snowflakes as the smaller adjacent building also is snowflake in shape). Unlike the last attempt at this photo which was taken at 6:10am, this one was taken at 5:58 and still the sun is above the horizon but not above the ridge to the left so I was able to keep the sun out of the photo.

Productive set of 3'+3' intervals on my long detour/training/commute route this morning. Yelled at another light jumper once I got downtown. Geez, use your head, guys.

A steamy ride in this morning, 65F/18C. Warmest of the year so far...and it'll get warmer.

I always wonder if I will see more bikes our after bike to work day...sadly for many its a one time deal.

After an incredibly stressful past week with little or no commuting by bike, I'm finally back on the saddle as of today! Thankfully a three day long migraine dulled down enough so I could cycle to work otherwise I would have opted to public transport or taxi.

Typical start of summer weather for Athens with temps at 27C (80F), sunny with a slight haze making it a hot and sticky commute.

It was a nice ride in this morning, the temp was 55f and wet roads but no rain falling. I saw some nice planters on the side of the road this morning that appearred as if someone was throwing them away. There was no room on my bike for them. Hopefully my husband can go get them this morning.

58F/14C, very light rain, and a tailwind. Nice ride in general.

Ever wake up feeling more tired than when you went to bed?! Great ride in despite the 10mph headwind and after 3 cups of java I'm still feeling puny - mondayitis?

Today was my first commute on my new Novara Buzz. I had been riding a cheap Walmart Schwinn I bought back in college for the past couple months. It was an ok bike, but it was a little small for me and I am getting to where I top out on flat roads and spin out on downhills. The Buzz is a little bit heavier (steel vs aluminum), but not much. The ride was almost as smooth as riding with the fork on my old bike, but I felt a little bit of a difference going up the big hills (less energy lost).

Two main things I noticed: I feel like I am up on stilts, and my legs are sore in my calves and quads instead of just my quads. I've got some minor fit tweaks to do, but over all it felt good.

I was a little disappointed that I was 1 min slower than my record time (about 2-4 min faster than my typical commute) on my 9 mile ride. My wife told me that she expects me to shave 10 min off my commute . Now that I have a few more gears to grow in to, I may work my way to that, eventually... I actually had trouble pushing the top gear on a fairly steep downhill.

Warm, humid and overcast - just my weather. I was really waffling on riding today, but guilt (from too much wine last night) persuaded me to ride. No regrets! Hopefully I'll dodge the thunderstorms this afternoon.

Today is a holiday, but here I am anyway. Gives me a chance to muck around on the servers when nobody's using them, and it's a good excuse to go for a ride. If I didn't have to come to work, I'd be home doing chores. Rode the fast bike today because I can bring it into the office (cuz no-one's here) instead of leaving it locked up outside. Warm (13C), breezy.

Try to find a decent cup of coffee in downtown Edmonton on a stat! Nothing but Tim Hortons. Swamp water.

Warm and windy. Took off the gloves and armwarmers after 15 minues. Was pretty much dripping by the end of the ride. It's going to be in the 90s, low humidity, and breezy. Fire weather, I am afraid.

I was a little weak today, not recovered enough from the TdCure century yesterday. Even tho they closed the route after I'd gone only 77 miles, due to a tornadic T-storm But still leg-weary. On the bright side beautiful weather today in between the rainstorms of this weekend and coming midweek. My creek path is flooded, four feet above the flood level and it's far worse about 15 miles north of here. I'm half tempted to design a DIY amphibian shell since my aero shell is off for the summer, in case these rains never abate. It would be seriously bulky though.

Rained out yesterday but had a dry ride this morning and hopefully my luck will continue this afternoon. Forecasters are basically calling for rain every day this week, as our weather continues its boom-or-bust trend. Last week we had beautiful sunny weather every day and I was able to bike to work all 5 days. However, it has now rained 4 days in a row.

Rain all the way in and a lot of debris from last night's thunderstorms and another nasty headwind. More storms forecast for this afternoon

Sunny, beautiful, low-60's... and fast. My road bike is significantly faster than my single-speed or my converted mountain bike (according to Strava)... Interestingly though, the SS was more "fun." Thank goodness that's my designated commuter anyway...

Cool this morning but humid as all heck. Stopped to vote just as the polls opened at 7 so took a little longer and a little farther to make it to the office. Had the Raceblade fenders on my road bike as it had rained last night, but it was dry most of the way in. Started raining within just a couple blocks of the office. Was nearly 2 mph slower average coming back in. That tailwind yesterday really made a difference I guess.

Today's commute was FAST!
I've started to use my new(ish) Jamis Commuter 1 which is extremely light and agile compared to my uber-heavy touring bike and have shaved around 1/4 of the time I need to commute. Unfortunately I haven't gotten around in changing the tires which are totally allergic to water and turn the bike into a water slide when wet!

Wow I'm sure glad I had the car at work to come home today. MASSIVE rains and flooding like I've never seen around here. Takes me an hour to get home by bike, or 20 minutes by car. Today took an hour in the car, with multiple turn-arounds and detours trying to get home. The bike rode home on the back of the car the whole way, but that's okay I guess because I had planned on cleaning it and wiping it down anyway.

Being car-free, EVERY day is a bike commute day -- although the bus would get me there on time every day (except Sunday), I HAVE to have SOME sort of fun! I get that on the bike.

The only times I don't enjoy the ride is: a.)when multiple fools buzz me, which only really happens when b.)surface conditions suck, ice or deep snow that's been poorly plowed or not at all.

The last couple days HAVE been a little rough; I haven't slept as well as usual, so my legs feel heavy for the first mile or so. But it's RARE when I don't have SOME feature of the ride to smile about.

Best parts of the day=in the saddle; worst part of the day=getting off the bike to go in to work.

It was a bit windy in the morning but it was a nice 70F, on the way back in the dark it was really windy. I enjoy riding my Tern Link c7 folding bike as a commuter.

Getting steamy. 72F/22C and high humifdity coming in. Once again, got all the way to my building lobby before I realized I forgot my helmet.

Lots of runners out, starting to run in the bike lane.
