Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Sorry, Blackwalls are gonna stay. Clips are LL deeps on tiny little MKS Streams, I need to change that up. It's a daily rider so I'm looking for something a little wider or I need to just adapt.

Thanks for the comments

My new lock up bike, "Shameless Huffy"

Bought the frame/BB/cranks/headset for $200 used and cannibalized most of the other parts from an old Trek 330. Total cost, $300 ($50 of that is the new holdfast straps).

Not if you're going to bump your own post for lack of compliments.

If you want more compliments, build a better bike. If you want criticism, there's a thread for that elsewhere.

I'm sorry guys - I really didn't mean to piss anybody off, just overeager. It's an experiment I've been working on that I just finished in time for my spring 1 school session. I *love* the bike that I ride to work, and I love it so much that I won't lock it up outside. Just from my apartment and to work (where it's kept inside) and back home. I had a Trek 330 12 sp. beater that I used to lock up on the days I go to school and then work directly after or any other time that I'm gonna need to lock up outdoors (shows/bars/etc). It was an ok bike for sure, and I never had a problem with anyone messing with it, but it was heavy and also generally not so much fun to ride. So I wanted something that could deliver more of the enjoyment that I get outta riding my non-lock up bikes and still, hopefully, not attract undue attention.

I posted pics of it because I figured since all the hard ridin' baullers in here are always talking geometry, track ends, etc it'd be a good test to find out if anyone would bother to look beyond the branding. If the responses (or lack thereof) I got are any indication, I think I'm on the right track (pun intended). I'm NOT trying to be a wise ass. I really wanted to see if anyone called me out on the frame's decals without knowing it might not be what they say it is. It'll give me a little piece of mind while it's locked outside and I'm in class trying to decode vet tech terminology.

so again, sorry if I pissed anyone off.. not my intention.

Tony

Btw, I actually think it's a nice bike (aside from the ugly Huffy decals), and compared to the 330, it's a blast to ride, but I do have better. The first one is my primary, the second I love as well, but it's a little too big for me. Still, I love the finish and I put too much time getting the out o' print group parts to sell it until I stop hemorrhaging money to school to hunt down a smaller Nag frame.
