Photos of drilled holes
In a previous post I inquired regarding the purpose of drilled holes in my luged frame. Here are some photos that I hope will clear-up some questions. None of the holes are drilled through the tubes. The holes were drilled before the tube assembly and I my view they are purely cosmetic. I originally inquired of their purpose or intent. Much thanks to all who replied.

don't think it's aesthetic cuz they don't look so pretty to me. I'll bet you they were to save weight.

Nifty. Yeah, they are probably there just for fun and aesthetics. Perhaps the brazing is a possibility, but I'd guess just for looks. It might be fun to take a brush and paint in the holes to accent other colors on the bike or something like that. In any case, I dig 'em.

They are for Styling mainly, the alternate reason is that they help verify that the brazing has filled the sockets.
My guess is that this is an American built frame from the 70's. Not necessarily a bad thing.
I ran across a French frame recently, where the holes in the Nervex lugs were right at where the tow tubes intersect. I had drawn a set like that, but someone did it. Works best with investment cast lugs.
