Went on my first ride in almost 5 years today
It was a beautiful day (69°) when I woke up at 10am, so I thought I'd get the Eddy down from the wall, wipe it down, run through the gears, air the tires, and head on out. I finally headed out about noon.
I rode down Elm Street to the Texas School Book Depository, turned left, went south a block, then headed back east up Main Street. At Griffin a cop made me turn north because of a helicopter doing construction work. I ended up criss-crossing downtown both east-west and north-south before I finally headed east up Commerce Street and into Deep Ellum. I rode through Deep Ellum, almost to Fair Park, then came back down Elm Street. In all it came to 7.03 miles, not bad for being extremely out of shape.
Ride stats:

Way to go! Hopefully, you also enjoyed yourself and you'll get back to riding regularly. It won't take long for you to get back into riding shape if you keep at it.

It's always nice to hear of someone getting back into bicycling. Keep it up and you will find a lot more enjoyment and health benefits.

Ahhh,...Eddy Merckx. Yes I've read about him, still jealous.
Classy bike, I'm an offroad rider that likes old bikes. I ride an old Tom Ritchey welded frame.

The thing that sucks is that it's 77° out right now, and I'm at work. I had to go home for a minute this afternoon (forgot to put out Valentine's card for wife), and had a hard time going back to work. I wanted to change into riding clothes and hop on the bike.
Oh, and the only parts of me that are sore are my arms (stiff steel fork with stiff Bontrager steel stem).

Five years? Good for you! Especially since you have been on the forum since Sept.! Can you ride to work? I know Dallas is a car town. I once walked from the Stoneliegh Hotel to Dealy Plaza, no one could believe it, couldn't imagine walking that far! Commuting you get to begin and end your day with you new addiction. Welcome back!

Then I got a car, rode the Hotter 'n Hell Hundred, and didn't ride again (except for 3 or 4 times commuting to work when my car was out of commission) until Sunday.

Good for you that you live across the street from work, that is fantastic. You problably cut that commute in half on your bike. 
I just wanted to point out that you can use the bike for daily needs, but you have already done that. Congrats for taking the first step... again.

Glad you're out again. It may take a while before you're back 100%, but just know that each ride will be better than the previous one.

Another beautiful day, another ride.
70°+, sunny, but windy.
Got in almost 11 miles in just under an hour (not counting stoplights).
I just hope to keep this up.
