Is this a Travel Agent on my RD cable?
I noticed my KHS MTB has what looks like one of those Travel Agent contraptions on the RD cable, right where the cable enters the RD mechanism. Is that what it is? If so why would it be on there?
Or is it just something to help the cable make that sharp curve, since the cable is routed down the seat stay instead of the chain stay like my road bike? It looks like it says Avid on it, but I didn't see anything like that on the Sram Avid site.

No, it's a Rollamajig pully, gets rid of the sharp bent in the cable housing, so it's good.

haha I saw a video for one of those bikes the other day, someone posted it in the commuting forum *I think*. Looks kinda neat.

I'd love me a couple of Rollamajigs, but you can't get 'em nowadays. I must ask my LBSes and local co-op to see if they have any - thanks for reminding me about them!

l looked before, but could only find 2, both in the US, and starting at around $30, I didn't look *that* hard though - I'm sure that others will turn up at a better price and close to home.
I much prefer the look of the older CRC-machined ones (like the OP has) compared to the models they sold just before they stopped making them.

I've still got a silver polished one of these ish my parts bin. I wish they fit modern Campagnolo. It looked and worked great with record 8.

The Jtek ones come in a 'Campy-compatible' version AFAICS.

The jtek is primarily designed to mix and match and doesn't work (or look) nearly as nicce for replacing a RD loop. Note how the barrel adjuster is relocated on the avid unit above. This makes for much better cable routing. When they were made, this thread pitch was pretty universal but times changed and manufactures started using different thread pitch. Campagnolo did it to make for finer adjustments required for narrower cassette spacing.
