Great new rail trail
This needs to happen:

An uninterrupted trail all the way from the Rideau Lakes region to Ontario's Near North. A great community resource and a potential visitor magnet. This corridor links beautiful, perfectly spaced Ottawa Valley towns, lakes, rivers and some of Ontario's nicest scenery.

I'm pretty excited about this. It could be the best thing this side of the P'tit Train du Nord, which of course is a huge success. The Ottawa-Carleton Trailway, which is pleasant but not nearly as scenic as the Valley corridor, extends from Ottawa to Carleton Place. So there's direct bike-trail access to this proposed trail right from the middle of Ottawa. And the Cataraqui Trail would be a direct link to Kingston and the trans-Ontario Waterfront Trail. It just makes too much sense not to happen. County governments are negotiating with CP Rail to acquire the Valley property. I'm cheering for a swift and trouble-free process.
