Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wow, really? Idiots? That's pretty harsh when this very well could be a disabled American vet doing a race of some sort with SAG support. Don, I'm afraid you've shown your true colors here.

Headlights on. Neither cyclist is showing any concern that the SUV is there. Once cyclist riding over the yellow line, as if not concerned about oncoming traffic. Both wearing red, white and blue. Yah, I'm guessing closed road for an organized ride. And one "idiot" has my utmost respect for not letting adversity stop him from living life and the other "idiot" has my respect for doing the right thing. Nice to see there are good people left in the world.

WOW, so who is the bigger idiot? The guy with no legs that is keeping both of his hands on the crank or the idiot roadie that is giving him a drink?

I don't know this for a fact but the idiot missing the legs, and possibly an arm, is wearing red, white, and blue. I would bet that that particular idiot lost some of those limbs to allow us to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted every day we live in this country.

Ah yes, the Wounded Warrior Project/Soldier Ride/ Ride 2 Recovery programs. I work those events to help out and support my fellow "idiots". We like riding the yellow lines and disrupting major traffic lanes with SAG and the local police helping out. Most people think we are okay. There are those who hate us...but such is life. We move on. You are welcome!

You should volunteer sometime and see what we "idiots" do. It may make you more appreciative for being whole and maybe act not like such a tool.

Take it easy. He didn't know. At first glance it could look like a couple of "idiots" hot-dogging it.

If you are remotely serious PM me. I would do that in a heartbeat. I was lucky enough not to ever hear a shot fired in anger, I look for ways to help those that did.

I don't kid about the Wounded Warrior Project/R2R/Soldier Rides. Thanks for showing interest. I am located by Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and hep with events here. Your location says CT, there is an event called Minuteman Challenge coming up in September. We could always use volunteers

Ride 2 Recovery try to do Las Vegas once a year (fairly new so not accurate) during Veteran's Day and usually coincide with the Aviation Nation at Nellis. The Honor Ride is going to be on Nov 9 this year.

Dang, poster has only 142 posts in six years and he steps out and shoots himself in the foot.

Guess that explains the post count.

roadies don't normally do nice things like that. Most of the time, they'll gratify themselves by passing anyone who's in front of them, am I wrong?

tagaproject - that's the first I've heard of anything like that - can you share a link or something that we can go investigate if interested?

Taga, thanks for the link. I think that may come in handy to get a group together and go volunteer.

The thread reminds me of a thread a while back about a runner with MD or something. Inspired a LOT of people! Hopefully someone here was just having a bad day.

Is that a 'magic water bottle'?

Don't you get a fine from the UCI for that?

He was kidding.

It's an extension of the joke the OP made.

It would seem that some people here are humor "challanged" (yes, that's more of the same sort of joke).

My foot is fine. Vehicle behind the riders is a support vehicle for Walter Reed Bethesda RAAM Cycling Team. I think DonDenver is the one in the emergency room right now.
