Hello from Portland OR.

This is a great month to be a cyclist in Portland. Cyclopedia, the art of the bicycle is at the art museum thru August, pedalpalooza started Thursday with over 250 events in the next three weeks. Hundreds of naked cyclist take over the city tonight at 8:30. I discovered bike forums after my ss vintage steel was stolen. After a three month mourning period i started thing about gears. Coming from a bmx background I knew nothing of road bikes so I searched the web and here I am. I bought an 80's Benotto and have rediscovered the love of bicycles I had in my racing days. Last thing. Today, I bought clipless pedals after years of believing they were dangerous and unnecessary, 5 minutes into riding with them I realized how wrong I was! So thank you bike forum community, the exchange of knowledge I found here has changed my life.

Hi Mika, welcome aboard here at BF. The Pacific Northwest and, Portland in specific always seem to be having a cycling event or three going on. Glad to hear that you got through the mandatory mourning period for the theft of the late, lamented Single Speed. An 80's Benooto is a great C&V ride in my book, you could post some pictures in the Classic and Vintage Forum so we can drool over them, too. Our Road Cycling and the Northwest Regional Forums should keep you up to date and informed, also. I went to clipless in 2008, when I purchased my C'Dale R500T, it was a no sweat process and the efficiency of pedaling is a bonus for me. Make your self at home here, good to have you here with us.

Bill
