Checking in from Indiana!
Hey bikeforums peoples. My name is Wil and I'm currently living in Terre Haute, IN.
I'm pretty new to road biking, but I've jumped in head-first after abandoning BMX after my knees couldn't take it anymore.
I'm 34 and I go to Indiana State for Envi Sci. I got into "adult" bikes a couple of months ago when I realized that I was getting a bit too chubby to keep up with the younger students on geology outings. I picked up a fixed-gear bike from Target (a total POS, but it was cheap) and I was hooked. I sold the junker and picked up a Jemson from State Bike Co., then a longtime friend of mine hooked me up with a job at his bike shop. I bought a Trek Madone 2.3 and I'm putting about 100 miles a week on it now... totally hooked!
Right now my main goals are just getting back into some sort of shape and maybe going out for the shop-sponsored team once I can hang with a group. My only racing-related goal right now is to enter and do well in the Bridge2Bridge fixed gear race in St. Louis next year.
I came to BF.net after hearing a couple of guys in the shop talking about racing as a "clydesdale". I wondered what that meant, so I utilized the power of Google, and this site was near the top of the results list. I'm 6-2, 220lb, so I qualify as a clyde and I'm excited that there's a pretty good scene of bigger guys out there on bikes.

Man, that is awesome. A guy was in the shop a few weeks ago talking about doing that and it sounded amazing. Definitely on the future to-do list.

Hi Wildebeest, an Environmental Engineer, Clydesdale (6'-1", 228 lbs, and dropping) here in NW Florida. Welcome to BF, you should try the Road Cycling and Racing Forums, also. And the Regional Forums for the Terre Haute area will connect you with others for group rides. Good luck with your studies and your training and rides.
