Just thought people might be interested in this cute wee folder from Riese & Muller (the Birdy People)


Looks like they took a little inspiration from the Brompton into the mix. Tiny wheels!

Looking closely it seems thoroughly well engineered, but I cant get over the overall impression that it looks like a kids Toy. The price £740 -£800 ($1400 to $1500) is 'the last nail in the coffin'. On the same site the dahon Sweat Pea at £199 ($375) seems to balance looks, specification and price more effectively.....I've not riden either so these comments are just based on looks only..... Si

The Sweat Pea has a recommended weight limit of 155lbs. At 1.5 grand, I wonder how much the Frog is designed to hold. Seems a bit steep in price for a kid's bike.

Fifteen hundred bucks for that? That's insane. You could get a high end Bike Friday with better components for that price.

I picked a FROG up in Berlin and rode it all over the city then brought it back to NYC. I'm 185 lbs. and 5'11" and it fit me just fine. Considering it has 12' wheels it was rather quick and as a long-time Brompton owner I can say that the ride is arguably smoother because of the suspension. It is very well made and, of course, is technically similar to a Birdy. It is a lot of fun to ride but suffers from the same issue as any small wheeled bike. The loss of inertia. Ive had many folders and can speak with some authority. The R&M Frog is a strange mix of quality and ingenuity. I imagine it failed because its just too expensive. I really only folded the handle bar and seat post and it made it fairly small package but certainly not as small or convenient as a Brompton. While it is quite fun to ride it surprisingly comfortable but its only good for short hops. End of the day? I sold it. It just wasn't that useful for me. Its ability to cover distance is limited. Still, its a fond memory. A really fun ride if you want to buzz around a few block radius. I imagine the new owner is enjoying it.

true. I have 2 birdys and i leave the frog at work to do neighbourhood errands. My boss used to hum circus music when he saw it, but on the street I get a lot of "slick", "cool" "cute" comments. A lot of fun to ride, as the suspension is very comfortable(even more comfortable than the birdys), but not great for a ride of any length longer than 10-15 min. but perfect for quick stops at bank, shops etc.

@1500$ i would expect it to do at least a bit more than quick rides around the neighbourhood

Funny thing about expectations. I drove a Lamborgini once. I brought all kinds of expectations with me. It was one harsh ride- hot and uncomfortable. Small tight cockpit with turning of an 18 wheeler(at least at 40MPH which was the posted speed limit!). I suppose if I was on a race track I might have had a different impression.

The frog is too expensive... for me. I imagine the same for most anyone else in the market for a bike of this type. Still, its a blast to ride. They went into production for this bike (Im certain) for that reason. Its really just a fun bike for full sized adults... with lots of money. A market too small!

I got it second hand, I wouldn't pay 1500 for it either

Anyone know if there are any still around? I know they were discontinued.
