Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Post some pics, doesn't need to be your own pic, could be a found pic.

Taco'ed wheels, snapped frames, separated forks, etc... post away!

I request that this thread be banned because it will be too traumatizing to my eyes.

When I get home I'll post my cracked Dura-Ace crankarm and rear hub. Two very weird failures (and I'm not a strong rider).

Here's some pics of some newly acquired wall-art. Found on the web.

The counter thread to this one should be "Project indestructible".

We'll make all the parts out of forged blocks of steel (CNC machined too). Throw on some 48 spoke Deep V's, Chris King Headset ,etc.

Yeah, the thumbnail by itself is interesting.

We need more roadie pics. 90% of what I can find is downhill and/or dirtjumping rides.

This thread should be any bike manufacturers nightmare!

Shows us how your titanium frame that's "strong enough to get run over by an 18-wheeler" fared against the neighborhood fire hydrant at a 25mph impact.

Shattered carbon, bent steel, twisted Ti... bring it!

Wow, gotta say I'm impressed. Any details you can give us.

Looks like the frame held up pretty well, is it damaged? The headset, fork and front wheel are clearly gone. Pretty impressive for carbon fiber, usually we're led to believe that even the slightest impact on carbon fiber and ::OOF::: in a cloud of smoke!

He apparently used it on a downhill course, and cased a jump pretty bad...

Yeah, well actually fork held, steer tube sheered off though, head tube was crushed, and lower angled tube was broken where the hub of the front tire smashed into it, but given the impact this was pretty much a given. It was a 42mph crash into the ditch of the road precisely where another road intersected perpendicularly and thus the bike stopped dead head long into the culvert area of the intersecting road. I however, continued through the air and across the road. I survived and Trek took pictures of it in awe of the whole thing.

Wow. Seems like the steerer tube is the weak point in some of these cases.

Now THIS stuff is frightening:
https://pardo.net/pardo/bike/pic/fail/FAIL-001.html

Is one this to have a bike smash in a smash, but to have sudden equipment failure like these
while you're cruising along is really unsettling

meh, I dont think that the crank failures would be too bad...I'd imagine it would be like unclipping by accident. I wouldn't WANT it to happen...but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as something like a broken H-bar
