Touring San Jaun Islands, Vancouver Island :)

Good day all! My wife and I are venturing out, touring on our bikes for the first time. Lots of new gear... I have set up our stops for our trip, but are hung up on weekend camping as most everything is booked. Can anyone tell me if there is free beach camping on Shaw, San Juan, or Lopez Islands? Only need to stay one overnight on the 3rd of Aug...

Just to answer a newbie ---
I would not count on being able to secure a campsite in Aug in the San Juans. Call to see if a wait list is possible.
Hiker/biker sites are not supposed to be "reservable", so look for those in the campsite description.
Anacortes area as an alternative?

I can attest to the fact that a bike touring trip on the Olympic peninsula offers the opportunist, primitive camper many no-cost alternatives. Especially if you are an early ontheroad in search of anearlybreakfast person.

Thanks for the info... finding accommodations has been very hard! Since posting, I have had success locating stays along our route... between hotels, B&B's, and campsites, and being prepared to jump around a bit, it has all worked out!

have a great summer!
