I have a 17 lb Dahon that I would like to set up for optimum riding position. Anyone know how to set up a folder?

Dunno which model you have, but the options are generally limited to saddle fore/aft and handlebar height.

there are handlebar extenders that can add reach to the bars, but they complicate the folding action somewhat.

Unless your short, there's no way to get stretched out on a Dahon, and there's really now way to get low like you might on a regular, rigid frame. Ergo, fit on a Dahon is fairly limited to getting comfy, though dropping the handlepost height to bring the bars down can help get a little more aero and to bend out over the front for more climbing leverage.

Hi,

Generally for folders you can forget about optimum.

They generally set up for sit up and beg.

But you can :

Set the bars as low as they will go (if adjustable).

Set the seat as far back as it will go.

Set the seat height correctly.

Add bar ends.

My bike with the above the bars are too close for optimum, but work
with the comfort saddle (no shorts) up to about 20 miles per day.

After that going up to say 30 miles I get post riding saddle discomfort,
but none at all doing 15 miles a day in normal clothing, YMMV.

Great saddle at the price for commuting and lowish mileage day
to day. Rubber sprung and stress relief in that central area.
Not good IMO for a touring holiday, though YMMV.
Day to day usage though, excellent.
Miles better than my folders standard saddle.

Thanks for the replies. I have read about cyclist touring all day on their tourers and even racing them. I could not do either on mine even though it came new with a racing/road bike saddle, tiny high pressure tires, carbon fiber handlebars and is very light.
