new Michelin covered in mold release.. I think

Is this just a quirk, or should I be concerned about this tire? I was able to scrub a little of it off with my fingernail, and I'm sure that after a few rides it'll be gone.

I'm guessing it is harmless but I've never had a tire come in this condition. The casing looks great, and the tire aired up tubeless without any drama using sealant and a hand pump.

Non-issue. A lot of tires have that look, including a Conti MK2 that I just picked up. It will come off after a few rides.

Excellent.. now as to WHEN I can ride it, that remains an issue. This is the wettest summer ever, and our local trails have clay soil that turns into peanut butter. They develop severe ruts if ridden, so all the trails close, and it would take 4-5 dry days to be able to ride. But rain is forecasted every day for the next 10 days...

Yup, have a set up Michie Race'rs that came the same way. A couple rides wears the white film away. No worries.

Spray Armorall all over the tire. That will help.
