Fenders/mudguards for hybrid?

Hello

I like my Giant Rapid 2 triple because it's light, but I'd like to add mudguards to keep the chain/derailleur/shoes cleaner.

Also, I'd rather some that are light and dark.

I saw the following mentionned:
  • SKS RaceBlade
  • Crud RoadRacer
  • Curana CLite et DVide

What would you recommend?

Thank you.

No place to fit proper mudguards with struts?

The 'crud' road-racer appears to offer fuller coverage, than the Race blade SKS ..

cannot say if you must go to a 23 wide tire to get the clearance..

I ride a different bike in the wet.. thought about PDW, full metal fenders for the roadie, mine an RB1, frame..

but It is left as is, (an odd mix of older parts) so far..

[Curana was a google look it up, It' s stuff never leaves the EU , so IDK ]

seems they do the reverse of SKS ... aluminum and plastic sandwiches in 3 layers
theirs 2 foil layers, plastic core, SKS alloy foil core .. in separate Strips that have been used as wiring ..

I agree, the Crud road racer looks to be the best choice out of the ones you list, although I would prefer something more substantial myself, like Planet Bike Cascadias or something from SKS. My wife and I both have the Cascadias and they work great. I finally convinced her to get them on her Cannondale Quick 3 after I got tired of cleaning her drivetrain every time we road an unpaved trail. The Quick 3 is a lot like your bike so I think they would work fine.

The Rapid 2 has mudguard eyelets front and rear but clearance looks a bit tight.
SKS chromoplastic narrow may fit. They are 35mm wide.
You may have to create small indents* in the material with a dremel but once fitted, chromoplastics offer years of rattle-free mud-guarding.

* typically , notches for the chainstays. These used to come ready-made.

I have used a interrupted front mudguard , via Brake bolt ..

ends at back of fork, remaining part is attached to the front ..

Could mudguard my RB1, PDW, anodizes aluminum for the 'full-metal-fender' for 23 wide tires..

But I have other bikes .. already equipped.. so its 'back-burnered'

Thanks for the tips. Before ordering, I'll go back to the store see what brands + models they advise.
