First ride on the new bike!
Took the Sirrus out for an inaugural ride.
5 miles in ~22 minutes. Could have gone further, trying not to overdo right off the bat.

That's a good first ride.
I would suggest not worrying about distance/speed/performance too much. The idea is to have fun!

I was definitely having fun. I am really liking the way the bike rides, very sharp precise steering, much nicer ride on the road than my old bike. It's just been too long since I've been out riding.

Excellent. My first "long" ride was about 9 miles and it took me 50 minutes!

Nice (speedy) first run in your new ride!
There are lot's paths in your area . . . Just did the Seminole-Wekiva Trail with a friend last week and had more fun than I might have anticipated.
Also check on 'Meet Up' bicycle groups for social rides, there are several in the central Florida area.

unless you have very short legs for your height
the saddle is possibly a smidge low on your new bike
as shown in the photos
the saddle should be set so your legs are almost completely straight
at the bottom of the pedal stroke
but so that your hips dont rock when you pedal
this will give you maximum efficiency and comfort when you ride
and ensure riding is a pain free and rewarding as possible

I've got a pretty long torso for my height. I'll double check the saddle height on my next ride and make sure I am almost at full leg extension at the bottom of the pedal arc.

The bike isn't what's going to make it happen for you. THIS MINDSET is what make the difference!

I'm really liking the MapMyRide app. Gives a nice picture of the ride.
Looking forward to hitting one of the multi-use paths near the house this weekend for something longer. Can't wait for the nice weather to get here in a month or so.....

Congrats on the new ride and don't obsess over the numbers. Logging the rides is great though. I only started the end of July and went from a wheezing 5 mile ride I thought was hard to just recently breaking 20 miles...and I don't have much time to ride either. So you will loosen up and get rolling quickly in the first dozen or so rides. Just do what is comfortable and enjoyable.
