awesome fred stem on my new bike :)
so I bought this a little while back with plans to steal parts and swap it onto a frame that would fit me...
it was a nice 10 speed shimano 105 bike but I saw another bike that fit me better and was a 3x9 setup... I'd rather the 9 speed based on cost of parts and cross compatibility with my other bikes and it had a triple and the wheelset was actually something I'd trust for my uber clyd self... so I emailed the guy about a trade... so here it now sits in my home office.
it's a '98 klein stage comp T aka a cheap klien shortly after trek stared having them do "normal" things like using a standard BB and head tube interface... the fork is even the same one Trek used on their OCLV and high end road bikes at the time... the prior owner had upgraded it at some point to 9spd ultegra with a 12-25 cassette and put a look ergostem (MSRP at nearly $200) i'm guessing the guy got it for the super upright position but it was apparently targeted at TT and Tri riders as it can dial in both height and length getting the bars a good bit lower than the head tube but it seems some touring riders like them for the height.

the bike is in overall pretty good condition, it needs to bar tape, hoods and prob a saddle and new brake pads, I'll prob sell the ergo stem as I've read some meh stuff about it for large riders as it can shift at the adjustment points on potholes and other hits... doesn't exactly instill confidence
also will install a compact bar as I've had good luck with them in the past
I'm going to get it cleaned up and here soon and get a ride on her and see what I really think... on my first around the block shake down (still using the comfort bike pedals that it came with) I found my heels hitting the MASSIVE chain stays... if I don't like the frame I can easily swap everything to my '83 trek 560 frameset... being that the chainstays are pretty tight with 28c tires that may well happen... but I always wanted a Klein so we'll see how it goes.
now I just need to keep from getting sick and get my behind on the saddle and ride.

The giant was an large... ig it was a size up it would ptob have been worth keeping... but it also would only fit a 25c tire so....

heres the info on her... sweet bike... I'm looking forward to getting some fenders and racks on it and doing a little touring next spring on it... have hopes for a self supported ride to my dads house out in FL in a few years which is 600-700 miles... just owning it makes me want to do these sorts of things haha
