Folding Bikes and Burley Travoy
Anyone with long-term experience running a Burley Travoy behind a folder? I've read that it places undue stress on the lengthy seatpost but was hoping users could chime in here. Thanks!

The Recumbent Quant
The lower you mount the trailer, the less stress it will put on the seatpost. As Fietsbob suggested, unless you're close to the weight limit of the bicycle, you shouldn't have an issue.

get a comfortable chair , if you need peer support so narrowly specific then you may have a long wait.

I was also considering getting one recently so am interested in views. From the small amount of research I did there didn't seem to be any downsides beyond the price.

One word. Fine. You happy now?
The Travoy and is used exclusively with my Mu SL -- shopping and cycle camping and was a big draw in 2011 during the Salt Spring Cycle Commute World Expo. I also own the Maya Cycle trailer (single wheel trailer). Plus and minuses between 2 wheels and 1.
Now sit down again. Comfy? Go ahead, shoot me a question.

No need to, I have you covered already: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...Travoy+touring . In fact, fietsbob -- the hunter of wabbits -- even added a comment or two on that thread. I was hoping someone else might chime in with a different outlook or provide any negatives that they've encountered while using them with various folders.
BTW your comments are among the best I've seen on the subject.

Well, they seem to work fine behind Dahons, specifically the Speed TR (see Ray Dimock's comments): https://www.burley.com/page_10116/super-users + https://reviews.mec.ca/9421-en_ca/502...ws/reviews.htm (see his pic and comment there, too).
And in winter, you can park the bike and pull the Travoy down the sidewalk if need be: https://www.calgaryherald.com/news/fr...430/story.html + https://www.carlesscolumbus.com/2013/...fect-bike.html .
I'm not sure about the Chick Magnet thing, but everyone seems to rate them as (curious) people magnets.

You're talking about the vehicle... right?
Believe me... it's not always a good thing.

I have the Travoy and I love it. I haven't pulled it with my Brompton yet but I will some day. I have owned it for two years and if I had to buy another trailer it would be the same one.
It it is easy to pull. The compartments work out well for me. I went with the Market bags but wouldn't mind trying the other bags. The hitch is very robust and the one time I did flip the trailer it didn't break. The trailer is easy on and easy off.
As as I said I did flip it once and I saw someone else do the same thing. It was 100% my fault that it flipped. I was travelling to quickly and turned a corner while going over a curb with an awkward unstable load. My bike stayed upright which was a good thing.
I also like using it off the bike. I use it as a bundle buggy when I walk to the Farmers Market etc. I also use it grocery shopping. Ride to the supermarket lock the bike outside and then use the Travoy as my shopping cart. Wheel it out of the store, hook it to the back of the bike and ride home. Very versatile trailer.

While researching trailers I did come across some blog posts about pulling a Travoy with a Brompton - reports seemed very positive.
In the end I went with the bombproof small Carry Freedom Y-Frame and couldn't be happier, but the Travoy looks like a smart choice for many applications.

Got my order in. Supplier is currently out of stock but it should be shipped within the month.
Picked up a plastic clothes hamper today in anticipation of arrival, copying Mr. Splunge's methodology in his review on the REI link that I provided upthread: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/sterilit.../6000080416745 = https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-...White/17011395 (U.S. version). The photo in the REI review shows a black hamper but I'm sure the white ones are the same thing. Since my bike is white, it'll match up nicely. For eight bucks and a little rope tying, you can't go wrong.

It's an attraction on the farmer's market, especially with the Maya -- it can be turned into a wheel barrow. Pretty handy hauling groceries. It's a chick magnet because I'm the only dude that do this and go shopping for produce on a trailer converted wheel barrow. Chick magnet was a satire joke you know; it's in Borat the movie. I guess you didn't watch Borat so I supposed you don't get the joke?!?

Hahaha... I got the joke which was why I thought it was safe to reply in kind... nobody shall be excluded from a ribbing. On a side note, it's been snowing here where I live and I'm ecstatic... not only do I really enjoy riding my Brompton with a Travoy when it's snowing [a lie in order to feign staying on topic] but it's the only other time I get to hear my girlfriend get excited over the prospects of getting 3-5 inches.
There... are we 'good' now?

Found a DIY "Travoy" here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...r-Bike!/page44 . I'll stick with the real McCoy!

Travois was essentially loading a bunch of stuff on the blankets or the covering for the teepee
between 2 poles or tree trunks , and dragging the kit behind you on your horse.
no wheels involved.
