Japanese Raleigh
So I bid $100 on a 1983 Raleigh Super Course mixte on the bay. The seller then ended the auction and messaged me he'd take $200. Long story short I got the bike for $100. A relative did local pick-up and has told me the bike is showroom condition. I think I paid pretty much what the bike was worth. December in Michigan, crappy phone pics on the ad, New ebay seller, the fact the bike will have to disassembled and regressed, new tires, Raleigh Corporation of America on the headbadge, etc. I'm still looking for an English womens bike, and I figure I could only get about what I have into it if I see a made in England mixte.

SO was there a question in there, or just happy about your new acquisition? Sounds like a nice enough bike, but no pictures no guesses.

Seems like you got a fair deal if the frames is strait and the paint is good since the majority of the value in one of these is in the frame. Also technically I'm pretty sure an 83 RBCA would technically be an American made bike most of the RBCA bikes where at least assembled partially built in the US.

I thought the RBCA bikes were Chinese/Taiwanese in origin but assembled here?
I own a Japanese Raleigh of about 1979 vintage but it just had standard Raleigh badging (minus the Nottingham) and it had a "Made in Japan" decal at the bottom of the seat tube.

Raliegh Bicycles of America where made by Huffy when the brought out name brand for the US in 1981/82 they made Raliegh branded made in the US bikes from 1982-1988/1989. When they where brought out by Pacific Industies around 1990. While not great all of the RBCA bikes I have seen are owned where very nice to exceptional and great bikes for the price and can be bargains if you get one of the top Road models used.
