Happy New Addiction XXXI

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

to be fair, he's being supportive of the leather thing. he doesn't like the unpredictable nature of freelancing (he doesn't like anything he can't control.) so he doesn't consider it a job. i've got about 60-70 hours worth of freelance work outside of the leather thing to complete before the end of next week, and i have to spend all day wednesday and thursday in an orientation for instructors for the school.

i don't have anything lined up for the week after next, so i can sleep then.

It most certainly is a job, a fairly hard job at that.

I don't understand why some people think doing your own business is equivalent to being unemployed. Truckstop, I'm with you on this one.

I have just been reviewing my current situation and looking at what I have, I am more busy than if I were doing the same thing but as an employee. I have 10 projects live and the most I ever had as an employee was 6. These 10 clients include 3 that an employer would rip off my arm to get signed up. Yet some people accuse me of being unemployed. I mean....what gives!

Tomorrow is the first Saturday in almost a month where I don't have to work and can ride with my club.

Sadly, the weather looks like it will be a washout.

Yes. We had snow earlier and now sleet/freeing rain. Nasty.

It took a while to train my family and friends to understand that just because my office was in my house it doesn't mean that I'm not at work.

so how much difference does 10 mm make on the stem length? i'm not uncomfortable on my current bike but i can't help noticing that when i go back to london the bike i have there is very comfy from the get go. i think the frame is 55cm top tube and the one here is 56. so is that 10 mm really that telling?

Top tube, head tube height/saddle to bar drop. Many things play into it, but 10mm can be just the difference between good, and perfect.

i would not swap the stem if it wasn't for the fact that i might change my fork because of my fear of the creaking there. maybe I should do both at the same time.

Pulling the bearings out, wiping them down, then giving a very light coat of grease may be all it needs. But, swapping the stem is minor potatoes, and if it actually may improve upon the comfort, I wouldn't wait. Curiosity, and all that. But, I like to tinker.....
